Ethnic Minority-Owned Business: The UK’s Biggest Untapped Resource?

One of the most impressive aspects of the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony was the way in which it reflected  the hybridity of modern British cultural life. The influence of the ethnic minorities who have made the UK their home over the past few decades resounded in a timpani of steel drums, colourful Bhangra, and a kaleidoscope of rainbow clad performers from a multiplicity of ethnic backgrounds. However, in spite of this embrace of ethnic minorities in the fabric of modern British culture, a landmark report by the Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) has found that ethnic minority-owned businesses remain under-utilised for community and regional regeneration.
